KEREA : the construction site is moving forward !
The KEREA facility is finally being assembled! This ambitious project marks a key milestone for waste management in the Aveyron region. The Solena Valorisation teams are now overseeing the construction of this future treatment unit. This large-scale industrial site incorporates an innovative multi-stream waste management hub. The goal is to optimize every ton of incoming material to minimize landfilling.
The KEREA complex does more than just sort waste. It will also house a Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) production unit. Simultaneously, a methanization section will transform the organic fraction into green energy. This circular approach addresses the current environmental challenges of the region.
In concrete terms, the factory will boast impressive capabilities:
The operators will process 84,000 tonnes of waste per year.
The flow will include 59,000 tonnes of Residual Household Waste (RHW).
The teams will also receive 8,000 tonnes of Economic Activity Waste (EAW).
Annual production will reach 34,000 tonnes of high-quality RDF.
Thanks to this investment, the department is strengthening its energy independence. The methanization process will produce biogas, a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. Furthermore, the production of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) will supply regional cement plants and industrial heating facilities.
The construction logistics are following a precise schedule. Currently, the metal structures are rising from the ground and the first machines are arriving on site. Solena Valorisation anticipates official commissioning by the end of 2025.
