Industrial Waste
For nearly 30 years, we have been designing and building waste treatment and recovery units with economic activity. Our knowledge of this specific type of waste allows us to bring you the best equipment, with the most innovative technologies. We deal with all types of EDAs: non-hazardous waste, hazardous waste and inert waste, and from all types of sectors: industrial, commercial, public, health, tertiary…
Since July 1, 2021, companies have the obligation of the Tri 7 flux :
Paper/cardboard
Metal
Plastic
Glass
Wood
Plaster
Minreal fractions
This obligation applies to companies using a private collection service. For those who use a collection service by local authorities, they are concerned if they produce more than 1100 litres of waste per week. If they produce less than 1100 litres of waste per week, three different situations arise :
- If it is located in an establishment with other companies that produce more than 1,100 litres of waste and it is the same waste management provider serving these different companies: it is up to it to follow the sorting obligations
- If it is a paper company with more than 20 employees: office paper sorting applies
- If the company is located in the same location as paper production companies employing more than 20 people, and that location has the same waste management provider: the latter must apply the sorting of office papers
From January 1, 2025, it will be the Tri 9 flux to be in force: will be added to the current waste textiles and bio-waste.
In industry, 93% of the material is recycled: most of it is recycled (59%) but also organic and energy. It also goes to a sorting centre or waste collection centre. In trade, 84% of waste is recovered, after more than half that goes to material recovery. A quarter is in charge of sorting centres, and 5% in incineration with energy recovery. As for the construction sector, half goes to collection, one third to waste disposal, 11% to material recovery and 1% to energy recovery.
ITALY
Economic Activity Waste concerns waste produced by companies. This applies to all companies. In 2020, in Italy, this waste will account for 81.1 million tonnes of the 174.9 million tonnes produced by the country as a whole. Waste is classified into 2 categories :
Municipal waste
Industrial waste concerns the vast majority of structures. All sectors are covered: culture and performing arts, events, tourism, catering and hotels, presses, libraries and bookshops, clothes shops, haberdashery, crafts, supermarkets and hypermarkets, food shops, nightlife, motoring and health care.
The same types of waste are found here as in selective collection: solid and non-hazardous waste.
Special waste
Still for industrial waste, they concern agriculture and forestry, construction and public works, industry, and waste treatment and recovery. In addition to municipal waste, certain sectors also produce special waste, such as the craft industry, commerce, the public service and the health and hospital sector. This is special industrial waste, medical waste (see infectious clinical waste), industrial waste, or waste in contact with hazardous chemicals.
All Italian companies are concerned by the sorting of waste at source, whatever their sector of activity or size. The materials to be sorted are the same as for selective collection: paper & cardboard, plastic, glass, metals, organic waste, hazardous waste, bulky waste and electronic waste.
Classification may vary from region to region or municipality to municipality. Please contact your local authority for more information.
